The RCI-1502 System is a crane device which warns the operator of impending overload conditions and of over hoist conditions which could cause damage to property, crane and personnel. The system is not a substitute for good operator judgment, experience and safe crane operation. The operator is solely responsible for the safe operation of the crane. The operator must, prior to operation of the crane, read this manual carefully and thoroughly and shall ensure that all operational instructions an d warnings are understood and complied with. Proper system operation requires the operator to correctly program the RCI System to match the crane setup and working configuration. The system is equipped with an override key which bypasses alarms and motion cut function at which time the system can no longer warn of impending overload and must only be operated strictly in accordance to the crane manufacturer’s setup and operation procedures. Operation of this key is for authorized personnel only who shall be solely responsible for its use.
The RCI-1502 is a fully automatic Rated Capacity Indicator which provides a display of the following functions:
· Boom Length,
· Boom Angle,
· Hook Radius,
· S.W.L. (Safe Working Load),
· Hoist Rope Falls,
· Duty (Configuration),
· Actual Load of Selected Winch (Main or Aux),
· Percentage of SWL (3 coloured lamps -green, amber, and red).
The RCI-1502 display also provides the following features:
· Visual and audible alarms on warning (approach to overload), overload, motion-cut, two-blocking detection, and error detection,
· Self-diagnosis and error codes,
· Data-logging,
· Built-in calibration and fault-finding tools,
· Units conversion (imperial/metric) facility,
· Anti-two-block (over hoist limit) facility.

RCI 1502 System
The RCI-1 550 Outrigger Monitoring System ha s been specifically design ed for installation on various mobile cranes. It warns the crane operator of tilt or imbalance condition (i.e. crane out-of-level) and outriggers not fully extended and set. The system warns the operator of these conditions by means of an audible alarm (buzzer) and a visual indicator (error codes and warnings on screen). In addition, the system provides an output signal via the on-board relay to inhibit or stop crane functions during these conditions.
System Components
RCI-1550 Display Unit
Provides the graphic interface between the sensors and the Control Unit. It communicates wirelessly with the Control Unit via a radio modem.
RCI-1550 Control Unit
Contains the main central processing unit of the system and provides the monitoring of the sensors and control of the alarms and motion cut output signal. It communicates wirelessly with the Display Unit via a radio modem.
RS-485 Radio Modem
Provides the interface between the Display Unit and Control Unit.
Outrigger Extension Sensors
These are magnetic-type proximity switches fitted to the outriggers and specifically arranged to activate or deactivate an output signal to the Control Unit when the outriggers are fully retracted or fully extended.
Outrigger Pad Sensors
These are roller-type micro-switches fitted to the outriggers and specifically arranged to activate or deactivate an output signal to the Control Unit when the pads are set or not set.
Dual Axis Tilt Sensor
An electronic sensor which continuously monitors the crane level or tilt (x-y axis) and provides the data to the Control Unit for processing.
